The Commission supports full-time study at both Masters and doctoral level. There are also opportunities for those studying for doctoral degrees in developing country universities to spend up to a year in the United Kingdom as part of their studies.
Please note that nominations have now been received by the Commission for Scholarships in 2009 so it is not possible to make any further applications. Results will be communicated to the nominating agency and to nominated candidates at the start of April.
Invitations for nominations for 2010 will be sent to national agencies, Universities and NGOs who are invited to nominate candidates by the end of July 2009 at which point the 2010 application form and prospectus will be made available on this Website and candidates will be able to apply through the nominating agency in their home country.
There are four ways to apply for scholarships:
• You can apply through the national nominating agency in your country
• You can apply through universities in certain developing countries
• Through the Commonwealth Shared Scholarships Scheme, you can apply directly to certain UK universities, for one year Masters courses only
• You can apply through a limited number of NGOs and other programmes funded by the UK Department for International Development
We regret that the Commission is unable to accept direct applications for study in the United Kingdom. Please note that any such applications will not be considered or acknowledged.
There are additional requirements for awards involving clinical training in medicine and dentistry
Further information on studying in the United Kingdom is available.
More information can be found about the terms and conditions of the
