If you want to undertake postgraduate study in the UK by entering one of the 2010 Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship competitions, this webpage is for you. We want you to use the Electronic Application System (EAS) to complete your application form. The EAS allows you to submit your application both electronically and as hard-copy in PDF format. Should you be unable to complete the EAS, we will be providing Nominating Agencies, both national agencies and universities, with some paper application forms.
You are advised to look at one or more of the Guides on this page that show how to use the EAS. There is also a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to supplement the Guides. Within the forms are links to the ‘Notes for Candidates’ to help you as well.
Apart from completing the EAS, the important points for you as an applicant are:
- to check whether or not your Nominating Agency will be processing your application electronically; if so, you will be able to follow the progress of your application
- when entering the field 'Nominating Agency you are applying through', if you are applying from a university and the university makes some of its nominations directly to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, then be careful to choose correctly either your university with ' (NA2)' after its name or your university without ' (NA2)' after its name. If the nomination route of your application is directly to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, then select your university with ' (NA2)' after its name; if the nomination route of your application is through the national agency and then to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, then select your university without ' (NA2)' after its name
- to submit online whether or not your Nominating Agency will be processing your application electronically and to print and send your application to your Nominating Agency
- to be patient when you have pressed the ‘submit’ button; traffic on the internet can mean it takes 3 minutes for your application to be transferred to your Nominating Agency
- to be patient when you download a PDF of your application as it can be 2 megabytes in size
- to let your referees know in advance that each will receive an email request seeking a reference about you as soon as you have submitted your application electronically
- to let your potential supervisors in the UK know in advance that each will receive an email request seeking a statement supporting your application as soon as you have submitted electronically. Note that this does not apply to those who are applying to do a Taught Masters degree
- If, on opening the online application form, you see a deadline of 17 December 2009 it is vital that you check your Nominating Agency's deadline. 17 December 2009 is the EAS Agency default deadline and your Nominating Agency may not have told the CSC of its actual deadline
