We want you to use the Electronic Application System (EAS) to complete your application for the 2011 Commonwealth Scholarship and Academic Staff Fellowship competitions. The EAS allows you to submit your application electronically and it allows you to print your application as hard-copy in PDF format.
You are advised to look at one or more of the step-by-step guides on this page that show how to use the EAS. There is also a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to help you. The forms have links to the ‘Notes for Candidates’ to help you as well.
If you have not already done so, you are requested to read the general information on the Scholarships and Academic Staff Fellowships Scheme on the main 'Apply' page before accessing the EAS.
Apart from completing the EAS, the important points for you as an candidate are:
- to contact your nominating agency in the first instance to check if they have any specific eligibility criteria and to check whether they will be processing your application electronically; if so, you will be able to follow the progress of your application.
- whether or not your Nominating Agency will be processing your application electronically, to print and send your application to your Nominating Agency
- to be patient when you have pressed the ‘submit’ button; traffic on the internet can mean it takes 3 minutes for your application to be transferred to your Nominating Agency
- to be patient when you download a PDF of your application as it can be 2 megabytes in size
- to let your referees know in advance that each will receive an email with a link to your application so that they can complete their references electronically. The email is generated as soon as you submit your application
- to let your potential supervisor(s) in the UK know in advance that each will receive an email with a link to your application asking for a supporting statement. This email too is generated as soon as you submit your application. Note that this does not apply to those who are applying to do a Taught Masters degree
This year the CSCUK will not consider any applications that have not been completed using the EAS. However, you need to find out from your Nominating Agency whether it wants to select candidates to nominate to CSCUK using the EAS or whether it has its own application procedure. There are 3 options available to Agencies:
- the Agency uses the EAS to select and nominate to CSCUK
- the Agency uses hard-copy of EAS applications to select and nominate to CSCUK
- the Agency selects using own application procedure and then asks selected candidates to complete the EAS
The similarities and differences between the 3 options are shown in the table:
